Sanford and Benedict Vineyard

The Sanford and Benedict Vineyard is one of the most historic vineyard sites in California and is credited with establishing the Santa Rita Hills as one of the best terroirs for cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the United States. This historic vineyard is situated a mere 10 miles from the ocean and is dominated by clay-loam soils. Our Chardonnay is sourced from the original own-rooted plantings, which were first established in 1973. We additionally source a bit of Pinot Noir from the vineyard’s 4d block, which is located just below the iconic original barn and is planted to the Dijon Clone 943.
